When will I ever learn?
Today's play ......
I painted out the text with a grey based color then scraped on some metallic champagne and a bit of turquoise acrylic to bring in the color of the wings. I also embellished with some gold half pearls and some turquoise. Needs something, but I am not sure just what.....so I an walking away for now.
A closer peek.......
Originally this full page image was on the right side of the smaller one above. I cut it out and used double sided tape to mount it on the back of that page. The right side of the spread was text so I painted it out with soft black acrylic. The images were from the third page of the original spread fussy cut and reduced in size. I quite likds the gold rimmed glasses, so I cut them away from the large image and gave them a place by themselves. I then coated all images with a thick coat of gel medium to prevent their edges from turning up.
Before I begin on the next spread........here are the originals. I thought if I did it now before I sat down at my art table, there would be no way I would forget. Works so far. LOL
So, to begin with I have removed the right hand side page and cut out the card. I have hole punched the card and laced a bit of burlap twine through it. I have also removed the next two pages and taken the third and folded it in half.
Gone into the ephemera paper pile......
The left hand side pictures have been cut out and the first one fussy cut and set aside. The second picture only the bottle full of seed beads made the cut. I will experiment with their placement later.
The right hand side sheet of paper has been folded in half with its edge tucked nicely under the spine bulge.
Now for the paint. Stay tuned.......
Sunday evening 8:23 PM.
The original page uncut.......

Left side elements painted out; right side folded over to make a half page.
Painted with a light sand acrylic, stenciled in white and tan and sprinkled with soft black.
Elements selected and fussy cut.....
Objet trouve' seemed a fitting tile......
Now on to the facing page. I painted all text and two of the three little paintings on the page. My first thought was to make it into a beach scene to go with the spread so far.......
This wasn't doing it for me......
so back to the table and instead of paint or water color , this time I turned to my trusty paper napkins and sewing pattern paper.
They didn't let me down.
Appropriately named....Choose to Shine.
And how it looks with the half page over lap.....LOVE IT!!!!
Very happy with the products of my art weekend while exploring this new to me art option.
This "altered magazine" will take a place with my other play things to be revisited on a regular basis.
Such simple fun.
My little artista girl is very happy.
Happy Sunday night everyone.
Sleep well.
Work again tomorrow.
