Feathers.......

These lovely feathers called to me this morning......

I painted the first spread out with ivory acrylic paint.  Three coats and then moved on to the next page....which I painted in a soft grey.  

At some point in the process my sleeve grabbed the corner of the left hand side of the magazine and folded the image on top of it self.  Despite moving rather quickly, the inside feather was covered in ivory paint.  Trying to wipe if off only succeeded in removing the image itself.....so I had to resort to painting a blue feather.....not as nice as the original, but it will have to do.

Since I messed things up, I decided to add some bling in hopes of diverting the eye from my blunder.

They are quite pretty, I think.

I deepened the background color to a soft grey and added a bit of texture paste, stencils and a dab of watercolor crayons to tone the stark white down a tad.  I also shaded both pages with my brown  Stabilo pencil to give the edges a bit of depth.....and grunge.  

Overall, I am very pleased with my Easter Sunday play.
