I finally got a bit of time to turn my attention back to my canvas journal. It's been a busy week with middle school report cards, resource reports and assessments to be completed before we have our March Break. I am tired, but welcome the opportunity to sit and play with my papers.
So, these two images were the first canvas pages I shared with you on Sunday. I added a bit of bling to the back side of page one. I need to resist the temptation to work on both side of the canvas on the same day. There is just too much moisture!
This evening I looked through my little chocolate boxes of images and began working on laying out two more pages. This time I also have sheets of sewing pattern papers to play with. What fun.
With this image I used my wet paint brush to push the ends of the sewing pattern paper back from the edges of the focal image and made it more of a frame. The pattern paper was very translucent and allowed sections of the images fade to the background and absorbed the distress ink wonderfully. I was very happy with my first play.
I was having so much fun I could not stop with just on page.......
For this pages I did not start with book pages but began layering on the pattern paper strips. Then I chose a face from my stash, a short passage and some colored bits. Then I layered more pattern paper to soften the edges of the images. I LOVE IT!
I was so excited to share this technique I haven't even waited until the page was dried and my stabilo put to work. I am so looking forward to my next opportunity to come to my table and play with my new found paper.
