Challenge #3 - Vellum pockets and sewn cards.

Well, as per usual, I have deviated from the challenge to suit the bits I want to use in this project. Today we are experiencing our third Nor'Easter in a row here in good old Nova Scotia. It's March Break and there are two certainties......I will be sick and it will storm. Two for two.!!!!!
But, I pushed through the headache, runny nose, burny throat and played with my art stuff. Not in my lovely art room sequestered upstairs away from all things distracting, but in the front sitting room snuggled in my Lazyboy chair in front of the pellet stove. The wind is howling and the rain snow mixture is pounding against the windows. Ah ....a Nova Scotia winter. Three more years until retirement and hopefully miserable weather will be a thing of the past. Fingers crossed.
Now, on to my version of the sewn cards in the vellum pocket. Well, the string of cards will reside in a plastic pocket that came with my canvas book that I am presently working on. It is my intention that the challenges that LorriMarie gives, that are bits and gibbles, will live in one of these six plastic sleeves.
Another deviation was that I used a bit of handmade lace that I inherited from my dearly departed friend Debbie. More and more of her gifts are finding their way into these projects. There are also other bits that I parted with that I now wish I had kept as LorriMarie is using them in these challenges. For example, there were boxes and boxes of 35mm slides.....which we gave to a family member and as luck would have it one of the challenges uses such slides. Blah. But one can not keep everything...right?
So, I used handmade lace instead of cotton cloth. I did use some old playing cards but I covered them with underpants and used a pop up card on each that has an inspirational saying inside. These were gifted to me four or five years ago by my good friend and colleague Jeanne. I loved them and hoped that I would find another use from them in years to come. I have now re-purposed 6 of 30.
And my final deviation was that I attached the lace to the cards with Sookwang double faced tape as I just did not have the energy to get the sewing machine out for this project. It would also mean that I would have to go into another room to use it, away from my blazing fire.
So here's what I came up with.......
Be happy.....have some silly fun!
