With all that has been going on in our lives.....boats, horses and Jamie going off to university, finishing the wallpaper was not high on the list of things to get done....though it did call to me every day when I walked through the hallway. Finally, we took a rainy Sunday afternoon to finish the job. I quite like the results and we have it completed before year's end. LOL That was something to shoot for!
The next task at hand is to find the "just right wallpaper for the upstairs hallway....a blend of the paper we used in this hallway, but hopefully with a splash of color.

Even though I have always loved to wallpaper, I play second fiddle to Ian now. We both have a "let me do it personality" that doesn't always work well with precision work. But, as long as it gets done I will be happy with my role as gofer...go fer this....go fer that...."Were are the scissors?" They're in your back pocket!"
Precision papering 101.
The finished project.....YEAH!!!!
Not sure I will keep the table in the window. Had to rearrange to accommodate the Christmas tree. Chances are it will find its way back into the dining room soon.
May 2014 Update......slow progress but we are getting there.
Woodwork is all stained, baseboards are painted, carpet is up, molding is purchased for around the ceiling and the floor. Now all we need is more time. Spring has found us with lots of unfinished projects and it is so hard to work inside when it is so nice outdoors and so much to do there. Can't wait to start papering!!!
But all good things come to those who wait!
Prep work is almost all done.
I did some fancy plaster work on the newel post. Will rub bit of stain over it to make the details stand out.....someday. :)
April 2014 Update on stairway progress:
Progress has been slow during the month of March. Ian was busy organizing the purchase and pick up of our Classic car which we found in Denver. We now have a 1971 Mercury Cougar in our yard. Once it was added to our ever growing collection of vehicles we decided to trade the Ford truck and my Jeep in for a Chrysler Aspen, 5.7 L Hemi, which hopefully will do the job of both vehicles, namely pull the horse trailer. I was also busy helping Jamie arrange and submit the various forms, applications and endorsements for university scholarships. To date he has been awarded $7000. Yeah!!!
So since my last post, we have continued to strip, sand and varnish. The little door under the stairway is now rehung and looks quite cute with it's new look.
And we just put on the first bit of wallpaper....a very subtle cream with a very faint diamond pattern.
You can't really see the pattern, but this gives you an idea of the tone and color matching to the cream paint.....it will work......subtle is good for a hallway, right?
We have also been busy readying our other property that has just gone up For Sale. Still have one little bedroom to paint and wallpaper. So much to do.....and teach all day as well.
March 2014
Ian and I started to put down the stair runners on Thursday evening. My sweetie finished it up while I was at work on Friday. Here's how they turned out..............
My sweetie is off to Denver, CO in the wee hours of the morning to pick up this gem. A 1971 Mercury Cougar XR7.
And here's a picture of my sweetie Ian. I am a lucky girl!
