I am getting the urge to blog again......so much has changed. What a difference a year can make.
Ian and I are in the process of restoring our century farm house. I went through a stage where I painted all woodwork white and tried to modernise the look of the house. We are now in the process of turning back the clock and I have to admit it, I love it. Ian has the patience for detail that I have never had. He makes me slow down and not rush through the process. To date we have completed two bedrooms and are in the process of working on the downstairs stair/hallway.
I wish I had taken before and after pictures of all the projects, but hindsight is a great thing. I did start taking pictures of the stairway and the progress we are making. Here they are
Stage one: stripping and sanding (moldings were white and the stairs, newel post and railing were chocolate brown.
Stage two: priming and painting. We have chosen a creamy white to paint the moldings and risers. The spindles will remain the stark white.
And here are some pictures of the two completed bedrooms. Again, picture these rooms as white on white, then you will see the drastic change we have made. Even the bedroom furniture was bright white....what was I thinking?????
This is the spare bedroom at the top of the stairs.
This is the master bedroom.
and the vintage drop light found at Home Depot
From this shot you can also see we have papered the ceiling with textured paper. We love the affect. We will continue to paper the ceiling in the upstairs and downstairs hallways.
Stay tuned for more pictures as we make our way through this project.
That is awesome.. a lot of people paint over lovely wood and after say what was I thinking. I love the look of the papered ceilings Shirley S
