Cards -1A ~ Cherry Lynn Die Cuts

Today I was introduced to the Cherry Lynn die collection.  We were visited by one of their design team, Joanne, who walked us through the creative process of creating a lovely  Christmas card with 3-d ornaments and a gift box with a poinsettia on the cover to house this card.  Take a look at my results.

This box is a neat idea to use with these 3-D cards that we create and never have envelopes big enough to put them in with out crushing them.  At the card class the box was created out of white card stock with the poinsettia embellishment.   When I got my box home, I distressed the edges with Tim Holtz's Forest Moss Distress ink and popped up a Xmas print embellishment from the Christmas collection from Kaizercraft.  My eye tells me it needs a little bit more, but I haven't come across anything in my stash that speaks to me at this point.

This is almost like the inspiration piece that Joanne presented.....but it is so unlike me to do my own thing during one of these sessions....NOT.... I took out my gold marker and edged the ovals with it to give it a more finished look.

Here is the finished product together.....well almost finished....I think I'll line the inside with some red papers......just have to find the right ones.....and perhaps put a ribbon tab on the front of the box and make the cover so it is solid all the way around instead of the flap lip on the front now.......always things of ways to take a project to the next level.

At the end of the class Joanne gave everyone a free CherryLynn die - the mini book metal die kit.....so now I must go and figure out how to use this little beauty.

If you have not used these wonderful dies yet, check out their site at http://www.cheerylynndesigns.com/
