We were fortunate enough to have a new horse grace our home yesterday. She is an eight year old mare that belongs to a friend of mine that I met recently through my art.
It is interesting how the Universe provides opportunities for us, and if we are open to them and act upon them, our lives are enriched by her bounty. This is indeed what has happened with my chance meeting of my new friend Debbie; finding out that she is not only artistic, but also a horse lover and owner.
After sharing with her how Beauty lost her stable mate last May and that I was looking for another companion horse, the Universe began working her magic. Debbie went home and talked with her husband Ian. The next time we spoke Debbie said she had a proposition for me. That proposition being the generous offer to have her horse Fleur to come live with us for the remainder of Beauty's life and that they would then take her back when her role of horse buddy was over.
I was interested but very concerned what it might mean to introduce a young horse to my elderly mare. So much could go wrong. But my heart told me that another horse was just what Beauty and I needed. The opportunity for me to refuel my passion for these beautiful animals was being offered to me. I had to trust that this was the right thing to do and move on Debbie and Ian's offer to help.
I spent a very unsettled night before Fleur was due to arrive......but all my worry was for not. Despite the fact that both mares are alpha, they have chosen to compromise.....you can actually see the give and take that goes on between then. Beauty lets her young friend lead the way and play around until she tires, and then she simply does her own thing, but does not stray too far from the side of her new found friend.
So tonight the entry in my gratitude journal is thanking the Universe for new found friends and unexpected propositions. Thanks Debbie and Ian and welcome to our home Fleur.
